The community pantry of EPD is only a few blocks away from the Pasig City Hall and the Pasig Mega Market. It is located along Caruncho Avenue.
They dubbed it as “EPD PaMaMariSan Pantry.”
“The pantry contains canned goods, instant noodles, face masks, face shields, Bible, PNP Journal Magazine among others. Said items were offered free to the residents who were severely affected by the recent lockdowns,” EPD said on its Facebook page.
“The EPD PaMaMariSan Pantry was inspired by the Maginhawa Community Pantry in Quezon City where people can donate and get items based on their needs.”

The Philippine National Police (PNP) denied on Tuesday, April 20, that its personnel have been directed to conduct profiling on organizers of community pantries amid allegations of red-tagging that even forced the Maginhawa Community Pantry in Quezon City to temporarily suspend its operation.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas also denied that the PNP has been red-tagging the organizers of community pantries amid social media posts of some policemen that either warn the public against being exploited by the communist rebels, or directly link some of the community pantries to the New People’s Army (NPA).
“There is no order from the National Headquarters to conduct any form of profiling of organizers of community pantries. It is beyond the interest of the PNP to delve into purely voluntary personal activities of private citizens,” said Sinas in a statement released on Tuesday.

“Huwag kayo mag-alala. Kung may huhuli po sa inyo na namimigay kayo ng pagkain nandito po ang PAO (Don’t worry. If anyone arrests you for handing out food, the PAO is here),” PAO Chief Persida V. Acosta declared.
“Kami po ang magtatanggol sa inyo. Ready po kami ipagtanggol mga kababayan natin na tumutulong lamang ay sila pa makakasuhan (We will defend you. We are ready to defend those who only want to help but get charged instead),” Acosta stressed.
She pointed out that a community pantry is part of the Filipino culture of “bayanihan” or helping each other.
