DCU launches the first ever Autism-Friendly University Design Guide

01/06/2021 Development of the guide followed a year long consultation with key stakeholders. The guide will be made publicly available to all HEIs. Dublin City University has launched the first ever Autism-Friendly University Design Guide developed in collaboration with global expert Prof Magda Mostafa, a world leader in the field of architectural design and the author of the world’s first research-based design framework for autism. The publication will be used to ensure future infrastructural developments at DCU are autism-friendly and to also retrofit existing buildings, where possible.  In addition, DCU is going to make the guide publicly available to all higher education institutions in Ireland and further afield.

Tapping into Homegrown Talent: Student Interns Engage in AUC Next 100 Campus Plan December 15, 2020 Reem Abouemera Last summer, six of AUC’s talented architecture students were engaged in a four-week internship program with the AUC Campus Plan team along with international architecture firm, Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners LLP (BBB) studying, designing and visualizing ideas for the next 100 years. Working under the supervision of faculty adviser to the AUC Next 100 project, Magda Mostafa, the coordinator of the internship program at the architecture department Amr Abdel Kawi and Project Manager at BBB Anna Oursler, students collected qualitative and quantitative data about AUC’s relationship with New Cairo and explored how to improve connections with key nearby destinations such as AUC’s off-campus housing and retail destinations.
