On Sundayâs lowest-rated Academy Awards ceremony ever, âMankâ â director David Fincherâs Netflix project about Herman J. Mankiewicz, the primary textual author of director, star and credited co-writer Orson Wellesâs 1941 debut feature â won two Oscars. Thatâs double the number âCitizen Kaneâ won. (Mankiewicz and Welles shared the original screenplay award.)
Then, on Tuesday, word got out on Twitter about a cruel but honest adjustment made early last month to the hallowed 100% âfreshâ score attached to âCitizen Kaneâ on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.

Arson Welles’ “Citizen Kane”, widely considered one of the greatest movies ever made, has lost its 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes after the review aggregator website added a negative review from 80 years ago.
