The new plant stand.  Paloma San Martin Madera Highlands resident Paloma San Martin’s love of gardening led her to set up a free plant exchange outside her home in April. Paloma San Martin  She would load the stand with plant trimmings and seeds for other residents to take or share, and people were welcome to contribute their own plants.

County waiting on Census data to start redistricting plans

Sahuarita ended up in three supervisory districts the last time Pima County went through redistricting in 2010. Now the process is due to begin again, but the boundaries could stay the same. Every 10 years, the state and local jurisdictions look at governing boundaries to balance populations following the U.S. Census. After the 2010 Census, the Pima County Redistricting Advisory Committee recommended splitting Sahuarita among three supervisor districts – Districts 2, 3 and 4. Rancho Sahuarita and Sahuarita Heights remained in District 2, but areas west of Interstate 19 shifted to Supervisor Sharon Bronson s District 3.

Brooke Bishop Matthew and Brooke Bishop with their adopted dog Lulu.  Brooke Bishop said 2020 brought a wealth of good news. She married her husband Matthew in December 2019, and then the pair moved to the area from Michigan in January 2020. Both are enjoying their dream jobs here. Matthew works in law enforcement, and Brooke is a nurse at Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital in Green Valley. Even in the pandemic, Brooke said she loves her job.
