La Croix : L’Éthiopie aurait débuté la seconde phase du remplissage du barrage de la Renaissance (GERD). Que représente ce barrage pour le pays ?
Franck Galland : Le fait que ce barrage soit nommé Renaissance n’est pas anodin, c’est e plus grand barrage d’Afrique. L’Éthiopie affirme qu’il est vital pour répondre à la fois aux besoins énergétiques de ses 110 millions d’habitants et à ses ambitions économiques. Il faut rappeler qu’avant ses diverses crises (Covid-19 et rébellion au Tigré) le pays avait une croissance à deux chiffres. Ses ambitions sont grandes et ce barrage s’inscrit dans cette quête de puissance.
