People illegally dumping waste in the Mackay region can expect to be caught as the council cracks down on the rubbish behaviour.
There has been a whopping one million litres of rubbish illegally dumped in the region since July last year, equating to more than 5000 wheelie bins worth.
But Mackay Regional Council has caught the offenders behind 60 per cent of the waste and is warning there are large fines for those who break the law.
Mayor Greg Williamson said the council used many tactics to catch or track down the illegal dumpers.
âWe have hidden cameras in place to catch offenders in known hot spots, we track clues and details found in the rubbish that has been dumped, and the community helps us catch offenders by reporting sightings and photos of illegal dumping,â Cr Williamson said.
