Microsoft previews Hot Reload for .NET developers, sets date for .NET 6

Faster Entity Framework, complete C++ 20 support in Visual Studio, but complications remain Tim Anderson Thu 27 May 2021 // 10:02 UTC Share Copy Build Microsoft has previewed Hot Reload for .NET development, enabling on-the-fly changes to source code that are applied to a running application. The company also set the date for the first production release of .NET 6: November 9. Long-time Microsoft-platform developers will recall Edit and continue (EnC) as a feature of Visual Basic way back when that was lost in the transition to .NET, and then regained in Visual Studio 2005. Hot Reload is not the same feature, though according to senior program manger Dmitry Lyalin, Hot Reload is powered by EnC.

.NET 6 preview 2: Microsoft confirms no visual designer for WinUI 3.0 at launch

Developers adopting latest and greatest will have to tangle with XAML Tim Anderson Mon 15 Mar 2021 // 17:45 UTC Share Copy Microsoft has released its second preview of .NET 6, but confirmed there will be no visual designer for WinUI 3.0 when it comes out in November this year. WinUI 3.0 is intended to be the primary official framework for Windows desktop applications. Microsoft s .NET 6 is the first long-term release of its revamped development platform for running C#, F#, and to some extent Visual Basic applications on Windows, cross-platform, and on the web. It is a unifying release, integrating what used to be Xamarin Forms under the snappy new name MAUI (Multi-Platform App UI).
