Lebanon’s spy chief Abbas Ibrahim has emerged as regional troubleshooter
Lebanon’s spy chief Abbas Ibrahim has emerged as a master deal-broker, from securing the return of hostages and prisoners held abroad to mediating in seemingly intractable political feuds at home.
The 61-year-old head of Lebanon’s top intelligence agency has become an increasingly visible pointman on thorny dossiers and is widely expected to further step out of the shadow in the future.
Critics argue that Ibrahim owes his clout to the support he has from the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group but the General Security chief has worked to preserve an image of political neutrality.

Back to the Endless Wars: US Military Convoy Enters Northeast Syria
Posted on
The military-industrial complex is back in the saddle again. “A large US military convoy,” according to i24News, “entered northeastern Syria on Thursday.” Reportedly, the convoy “included some 40 trucks and armored vehicles and was backed from the air by helicopters.” Is Dotty Old Joe planning an American military misadventure in Syria? It wouldn’t be any surprise. As former President Trump said last September, “the top people in the Pentagon…want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy. But we’re getting out of the endless wars, you know how we’re doing.” Not any more. The drumbeat to get American troops into Syria began almost immediately after Joe was anointed President-elect by the establishment media.
