Paulette Wagenvoort, the new acute and long-term care manager at the Vulcan Community Health Centre says she has “big shoes to fill” replacing her predecessor, Brenda Findlay.

She added she’s fortunate to have around patient care manager Lynne Rhodes, who Wagenvoort says has a “wealth of knowledge.”
Wagenvoort, originally from Claresholm, has been working in health care since she was in high school, when she did housekeeping at the Claresholm General Hospital. She then became health care aide in the late ’80s before taking her nursing training.
The newly reinstated affirmative action/diversity outreach coordinator position should have more autonomy and authority than what was proposed at Town Meeting, according to public feedback.
The coordinator position was approved and funded at $85,000 for salary and benefits at Annual Town Meeting in June. The coordinator will serve as a liaison between residents and government and civic organizations, and develop programs to foster broader understanding of affirmative action and race in Falmouth.
He or she will report to Town Manager Julian M. Suso and Falmouth Superintendent of Schools Lori S. Duerr.
Falmouthâs affirmative action committee presented the initial job description to the select board in October. The select board then initiated a 30-day public comment period for residents to weigh in on the scope of the position. A week later, the school committee also solicited a 30-day comment period.
