The woman charged with attacking a man moments before his house caught fire accepted a plea deal and pleaded no contest to a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon.
Crystal Lynn Hardy entered the plea Tuesday in Kern County Superior Court.
She was arrested late on May 2, several hours afters after the victim, a 36-year-old man, went to a neighbors house to seek aid after the attack.
While there, his residence on the 200 block of Calvin began burning.
The structure was gutted and police believe the incidents are related.
No one has been charged in connection with the fire.
Appleton Downtown Incorporated is hosting its first downtown-wide business bracket challenge.
It all begins today and runs for three weeks. Lynn Hardy thinks it’s a great way to discover all the products and services local shops and restaurants have to offer.
Over 30 businesses will compete in the online contest.
The champion product for each bracket won’t be the only winners. The person with the most accurate and complete bracket at the end of the challenge will also win a prize.
Voting ends April 4th.

APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) If you take a stroll along College Avenue in Downtown Appleton you’ll find 15 different beautifully handcrafted ice masterpieces, all part of the Avenue of Ice.
“Ice sculptures are a huge hit for the community they love to come out and see them which brings foot traffic into our district,” Lynn Hardy with Appleton Downtown Inc. said.
Installation for the works of art began early Friday morning.
Paul Salmon with Kristal Kleer Ice Sculptures says it all starts with a vision.
“I usually like to try to make it my own,” said Salmon. “So, taking an idea that someone gives me and then seeing what I can come up with as far as personalizing it.”
