The force attended a report of an assault on the Grand Union Canal near Broughton in Aylesbury at around 12.20pm on Monday. On attendance, a man was found with serious injuries. He tragically died at the scene despite efforts of officers and paramedics. Following a formal identification procedure today, the victim has been identified as Clive Porter, aged 63, from Tring, Hertfordshire. Additionally, a Home Office post mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday and the cause of death is currently pending. Two arrests have been made in connection with this investigation.

Mr Porter previously served as a police officer for Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Milton Keynes man jailed for punching female police officer

A man has been jailed for GBH and wounding with intent following an incident in Milton Keynes, in which a female police officer was assaulted. Marian Avram, 47, of Avebury Boulevard, pleaded guilty to one count of the crime at Aylesbury Crown Court on December 3, 2020. He was sentenced at the same court on Friday, January 8, to one year and ten months’ imprisonment. This is in relation to an incident on October 13, 2020 when an intoxicated Avram, was approached by a female police officer, who asked if she could help him. He then punched her, causing a broken collar bone and bruising to the face, for which she required hospital treatment.
