This highly-urbanized city has 98 villages with a population of 977,234 as of the 2020 census. Of the 20 active cases, Barangay Divisoria has the highest with three; Canelar, Mercedes, Santa Catalina, and Tumaga have two cases each; while with one each are Buenavista, Calarian, Lunzuran, San Jose Gusu, San Roque, Sinunuc, Tetuan, Vitali, and Zambowood. The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) managed to send two Filipino boxers to the Tokyo Olympics just in time before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world of sports last year.
Middleweight Felix Eumir Marcial and flyweight Irish Magno booked berths in the 2020 Olympiad during their campaigns in the Asia and Oceania Boxing Qualification Tournament in Amman, Jordan, with Marcial even bagging the gold medal in the 75 kg division.
