Peter Barris to be new Northwestern Board of Trustees chair

Peter Barris (McCormick ’74) was elected to serve as the next chair of the Northwestern Board of Trustees. Barris, who chairs venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates Inc., will start his new position Sept. 1.  Barris has served on the board since 2001. He chaired the Presidential Search Committee and created the Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Landis Martin reflects on time as Chairman of Board of Trustees

J. Landis Martin, chair of Northwestern’s Board of Trustees, answered questions from faculty members about retirement funds and diversifying the Board of Trustees at Wednesday’s Faculty Senate meeting.  Martin began the meeting by discussing his biggest accomplishments from his term as chair of the board.  “I’m so proud (of) Northwestern’s first-class teaching and interdisciplinary research.

Faculty Senate talks admissions, telehealth mental health services

Northwestern’s Faculty Senate discussed topics related to NU’s acceptance rate and faculty representation in administrative decisions Wednesday night after hearing from the Chair of the Board of Trustees J. Landis Martin.  Faculty Senate President and Molecular Biosciences Prof. Robert Holmgren said NU has a “very low” admission rate and the University would like to continue.
