The ongoing strike by Punjab State Ministerial Services Union (PSMSU) has impacted the salaries of Ludhiana MC's staff. The strike has led to a delay in the payment of salaries as the MC has not received its share in the goods and services tax (GST) from the state government. The MC relies on its GST cut for staff salaries and is now struggling to find funds. The civic body usually clears staff salaries by the 10th or 12th day of the month.

The cash-strapped MC in Ludhiana has launched a drive to recover pending rent from tenants. Notices are being served to defaulters who have not paid rent to the civic body. The drive aims to achieve the income target of around Rs 10 crore from rental properties. If defaulters do not clear their dues, the civic body will seal shops. The rental properties are located in zones A, C, and D. The MC is checking records and preparing a list of defaulters to issue notices.
