LUCKNOW: Hundreds gathered outside the Bara Imambara on Sunday afternoon rallying against former chief of UP Shia central Waqf Board, Waseem Rizvi, who has raked up a controversy by moving a plea before the Supreme Court (SC) to remove 26 Quranic verses.
Call to the ‘Tahaffuz-e-Quran’ (In protection of the Quran) protest was given by Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Hind general secretary Maulana Kalbe Jawad and was attended by both Shia and Sunni clerics, including former All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member Maulana Salman Nadwi, Imam of thr Teeley Wali Masjid Maulana Fazley Mannan Rahmani, SC lawyer Mahmood Pracha among others.

LUCKNOW: BSP chief Mayawati on Monday declared that her party would not be entering into any alliance for the 2022 assembly polls in UP. The former UP chief minister, who had tied up with Samajwadi Party for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls but failed to win a significant number of seats, said that while she was able to transfer votes of her supporters en bloc to the partner party, the opposite was not true.
Appealing to her party workers and candidates who are contesting elections in West Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu to give their best and ensure that the BSP movement spreads in these states as well, Mayawati said that she had not tied up with any party for these states either.
Once the Arjun subsidiary project starts, five to six lakh people will be benefitted, he added.
LUCKNOW: While reviewing pace of projects in Ayodhya on Wednesday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to develop the temple town into a Vedic City as it was the focal point of faith of millions across the world.He also said, since Ayodhya was globally known as the city of Lord Ram, buildings coming up here must be in sync with the tradition, legacy and culture of India. During a review of projects launched under Ayodhya Vision Document, the chief minister told officials to take feedback from all stakeholders, including seers, religious leaders and even pilgrims on developing Ayodhya into a Vedic City.

LUCKNOW: The UP government late on Friday evening suspended former secretary, basic education council, Sanjay Sinha, with immediate effect on charges of indiscipline, administrative and financial anomalies.
Governor Anandiben Patel gave her assent for the suspension on Wednesday. She has further instructed the special secretary, secondary education, Kajal to initiate disciplinary proceedings against him. Sinha was relieved from his post in September 2018 when a recruitment scam in an examination held for 68,500 assistant teachers in primary schools surfaced. Sinha was then asked to continue discharging his duties as director, State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT), Lucknow.
The government after receiving numerous complaints against Sinha deputed director general, school education, Vijay Kiran Anand, to carry out investigations. Anand on January 29 submitted his report where Sinha was prima facie found guilty in majority of accusations made
