TEXARKANA (KSLA) - One of the largest healthcare providers in northeast Texas continues to provide some elective surgeries despite a governor order to stop due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the area.
On Monday, Jan. 4, we first made you aware of restrictions being made on hospitals in Texas Trauma Service Area F, which includes Bowie and Cass counties. This is because hospitalizations have exceeded 15% of capacity of COVID-19 patients for at least seven days.
One of the restrictions outlined in an order by Texas Governor Greg Abbott dealt with elective surgeries.

TEXARKANA (KSLA) - The second vaccine to fight the coronavirus is already being sent to frontline medical workers throuhgout the country. And some ArkLaTex health leaders say the Moderna vaccine canât arrive soon enough.
Hospital leaders at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana are waiting on the arrival of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Loren Robinson said Christus St. Michael is slated to receive 100 doses.

âWe are planning to administer that to our associates and health care providers in the Atlanta area as early as next week,â said Robinson, vice president of Christus St. Michael Health System.

TEXARKANA, Tx. (KSLA) - Two Bowie County hospitals will now join other health care facilities to lead the way for workers’ safety.
Both CHRISTUS St. Michael and Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana were selected among 100 Texas health care facilities to receive the Pfizer-BioTech COVID-19 vaccine
