John le Carré, former spy and novelist, dead at 89
Author John le Carré, the ex-MI6 spy who wrote ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,’ and many other thrillers, died from pneumonia at Royal Cornwall Hospital at age 89.
Jonny Geller, le Carré’s literary agent, said the author died Saturday night after a short battle with pneumonia in Cornwall, in the southwest of England. Geller said his death was not COVID-19-related.
“Our hearts go out to his four sons, their families and to his dear wife, Jane,” Geller said, adding: “His like will never be seen again, and his loss will be felt by every book lover, everyone interested in the human condition.”
