Loogootee pair arrested for methamphetamine, marijuana

(WTWO/WAWV) A report to the Loogootee Police Department on Saturday of a suspicious vehicle led to the arrest of two local residents and the confiscation of at least 55 grams of marijuana, 21 grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a loaded .45 caliber handgun, officials reported Monday. Responding to the call at a residence on Doyle Avenue, patrolman Josh Seymour made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Howard Phillips, 32, of Loogootee. Seymour noticed the odor of marijuana coming from Phillips, and found a bag of marijuana. After transporting the suspect to the Martin County Security Center, multiple small baggies containing a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine were located in the car along with a syringe that field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. The gun was also located in the vehicle.

K-9 officer Roxy passed away due to health issues. The K-9 worked alongside Captain Hennette for over 6 years. In a letter from Hennette he said Roxy was responsible for 139 arrests during her time as an officer. The department tells News 10 Roxy was a great asset to the police department and will be missed. Earlier: The Martin County Sheriff’s Department is trying to locate Walter Batman who was last seen at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Walter Batman Batman is 84 years old and was last seen driving a red Dodge Caravan with license plate BFD273. Batman has dementia and memory issues as well as other health problems.
