Contractor levies on EFCL for $1.2m debt

A PENAL contractor has levied on the Education Facilities Company Ltd for $1.2 million owed for renovations done for four schools in 2015.
Court marshals and bailiffs for GM Transport Company Ltd went to EFCL’s offices at Long Circular Road, Maraval, on Thursday, in an attempt to recover $1,010,571 and interest.
Up to 3 pm, they were still loading office chairs, other furniture and fittings and computers onto flat-bed trucks, although the contractor said it was willing to negotiate a settlement with EFCL.
POLICE shot and killed two young men in Dibe, Long Circular, yesterday, taking the number of people killed by police this year so far to 56.
In this latest incident, police said the men fired at them and they fired back. Relatives of one of the men however claimed otherwise.
Killed were Jeremiah Ellis, 18, and Shane Moses, 20.
Police said around 5 a.m. yesterday officers from the St James Police Station and Western Division Task Force went to Tractor Hill, off Dibe, Long Circular, where they attempted to search a house in the area, but when they got close to the dwelling two men walked out and opened fire on them.

Antoinette Ellis, the mother of 18-year-old Jeremiah Ellis – one of two men killed during a police-involved shooting in Long Circular, St James early on Monday morning, said she is confused and heartbroken over the death of her son.
Police said members of the Western Division Task Force went to the younger Ellis Tractor Hill home off Dibe Road to search the house at around 4 am when they were shot at by someone inside.
They shot back at the house and saw Ellis and another man identified as 21-year-old Shane Moses on the ground bleeding.

A soldier was detained by the Regiment after he fired off his service weapon into the air at the Regiment s military installation at Long Circular in St James. As the Regiment says an investigation is now ongoing, the National Security Minister told our Political Editor Juhel Browne that he was provided with the preliminary details surrounding the incident by the Chief of Defence Staff.
