CountryHouse Residence for Memory Care is hosting a 5K color run on June 20 to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer s disease.
June 20 is designated as The Longest Day, or the summer solstice, and the Alzheimer’s Association across the country uses the day to host events and bring awareness to Alzheimer’s.
“The Longest Day is our designated day for fundraising. As a memory care home, that is a huge piece of our heart which is raising funds and finding a cure for the Alzheimer s association. We have usually done something on this day, and last year was one of our first really big events,” Tessa Johnson, the director of CountryHouse said. “We did a community block party with food, live music, a petting zoo and a jumping castle.
