Krissy Gear breaks mile school record as No. 1 Arkansas wins team title

Shawn Price February 13, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The second day of the Tyson Invitational provided more superlatives from the No. 1 Razorbacks as they claimed a fifth consecutive team victory this indoor season while the highlight performance was a school record in the mile by Krissy Gear. Facing a field of nationally ranked teams, the Razorbacks produced another dominant team victory with 140 points, as Alabama (64) and Oregon (62) battled for the runner-up position. The rest of the field included Texas A&M (52), Texas (51), Florida (49), Florida State (42), and LSU (28). “We’re super elated,” said Razorback women’s head coach Lance Harter. “We ran our DMR to get it qualified last night, so Krissy Gear came back in the mile today and rewrote the record book with a 4:31. She just did a fantastic job.

NEW ORLEANS – We are less than six weeks out from the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships that were postponed to March 15, 2021 from its original date of November 21, 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. What better time to debut the first edition of the NCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the season than now? Although there are no Regional Championships contested this year to determine who automatically advances to the championship meet, the first edition of the rankings shows how things are playing out. NOTE: Only those teams who have competed or have an intention to compete prior to the conclusion of the season are eligible for a regional ranking.

World-leading 4×400, pair of collegiate leaders highlight Arkansas victory

Shawn Price January 30, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Another day of spectacular performances led Arkansas to a dominant victory in the Razorback Invitational this weekend at the Randal Tyson Track Center. A world-leading effort was generated in the 4×400 relay while collegiate-leading marks were established in the 400m and mile. Arkansas produced its third team win of the season, totaling 133 points to thwart the challenge from Georgia (93) and Oregon (92). USC (70) placed fourth while the rest of the field included Mississippi State (35), Colorado (27), Ole Miss (27), and Iowa State (10). “The team win is just kind of extra credit,” noted women’s head coach Lance Harter. “We don’t try to do any of the line-ups that we potential can. What’s really exciting is that we had some great breakthroughs individually.”

Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce Announces new CEO

Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce terminates recent hire, Morris named as new CEO The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has announced that Mr. Sean Stockard was terminated in late December as its Chief Executive Officer, a position he held from November 2nd to December 24th. “After a series of unfortunate events, the Board of Directors lost confidence in Mr. Stockard’s abilities to perform the duties of the position for which he was hired.” said 2020-21 Chairman Logan Morris. The Chamber retained the services of Jorgensen Consulting, a premier Non-Profit Executive Recruiting Firm with 25 years of experience in that field, to identify and qualify candidates that aligned with the organization’s goals and mission.
