State regulators on Monday ordered a Flint chemical company to truck wastewater to a water treatment plant, weeks after it was blamed for an oily discharge in the Flint River.
A Flint chemical company will be required to pump its wastewater into above-ground storage tanks until it has taken steps to fix its faulty underground sewage discharge system.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced an order Monday requiring Lockhart Chemical to cease the use of underground wastewater and stormwater systems immediately.
In the issued violation, Meyer states that Lockhart not only illegally discharged substances into the river but failed to report the release of the waste water to EGLE.
