Ground was broken Wednesday for a new Edmonton sweat lodge, which aims to create an urban cultural space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Those behind it say they hope it helps bring First Nations ceremonies 'out of the bush' and into the city.

And thirdly, most significantly, how you and I can become allies for Indigenous people.
For me, personally, Yellowbird’s third point struck a tender chord.
I am aware the residential school story is going to be with us for decades.
With more unmarked graves of young, innocent Canadian children being discovered I have been struggling; struggling to find the right and thoughtful way to support and honour the fallen … and, also, find a way history never repeats itself.
Then Yellowbird answered all those questions and more by indicating what he envisions the two-day event to thoughtfully and ever so gently, nudge, the dial forward.
