Seabrook Island artist spans coasts with Together While Apart project | Stories

Deane Bowers set out to spread a positive message to fight prevailing “negativity, divisiveness, loss, and pessimism” running rampant with what she does best: making art. The Seabrook Island artist (left) says it best: “I decided I needed to find a way to bring people together, even if it was only a small one. I thought that if I could gather people, even people physically separated, to work towards something bigger than ourselves, that collectively we might find joy, fellowship and fun-and we could make a difference. DC Homebuyers Are Writing Gushy Personal Letters to Sellers They Probably Shouldn t

Photo by Jeff Manes/iStock. In a real estate market where multiple offers are the norm, it’s no surprise that buyers want to do whatever they can to set themselves apart from the competition. Aside from waiving contingencies, escalating six figures, agreeing to close on the seller’s timeline, and offering nonessential organs (kidding kind of), there’s another tactic that Washington house-hunters are frequently deploying these days: writing “love letters” to sellers i.e., overtures about who they are, why the particular property means so much to them, and why the seller should pick them over other bidders. Many buyers include family photos, too. You can even buy templates for the letters on Etsy.

How To Win A Bidding War

Inman Connect We want to help you make more money right now. All month, go Back to Basics with Inman as real estate pros share what’s working now and how they’re setting up to profit in a post-pandemic world. Talk to any real estate agent today, and nearly all will tell you they’ve never been busier. Even with mortgage rates having gradually inched higher since the beginning of the year, and home prices continuing to climb as well, buyers have not been deterred. And now, the country seems to be itching with a spring homebuying fever. Unfortunately for buyers, that means the competition stands to get heated this year. Bidding wars have already surged in recent weeks, and don’t show signs of slowing. During the month of February, nearly 70 percent of Redfin agents faced bidding wars, according to a recent Redfin report. That’s the 10th consecutive month in which more than half of Redfin agents writing offers on a home had to try and beat out some competition.
