The Bureau of Meteorology’s Livio Regano said the cyclone had moved 345 kilometres north-east of Cairns early Thursday. Severe Tropical Cyclone Niran reaches category 3. Brisbane weather: More SEQ showers as parts of Queensland see highest rainfall in months

Thursday will be the wettest day for the week for Brisbane, before the system moves to the Gold Coast. Rain is forecast for south-east Queensland on February 25. The Bureau of Meteorology said rainfall across the CBD and in central Queensland saw significant totals, with areas around Mt Glorious, west of the city, receiving almost 80 millimetres. The Gold and Sunshine coasts also received high totals, with Tallebudgera and Caloundra seeing 76 millimetres and 66 millimetres respectively.
