Pelley good evening. Thomas eric duncan died today in aitalas hospital, the first death from ebola in the United States. Duncan, who was 42 was visiting from west africa where he caught the disease and where 3900 people have died of it. Late today a Dallas County sheriffs deputy who had been in the apartment where duncan had stayed was admitted to a hospital. He has flulike symptoms, could be anything, but ebola tests are being done. We have a team of correspondents covering this developing story. First well go to Manuel Bojorquez in dallas. Reporter this ambulance rushed the deputy to Texas Health Presbyterian hospital this afternoon. He was brought here after seeking treatment at an Urgent Care Center in the dallas suburb of frisco, where mark piland is the fire chief. This patient had reported that they initially had been in the apartment in the initial ebola patient in dallas and had some contact with family members. Number two, most of the bill was due to the fact that they had two apartments in new york city in the 1970s and they appreciated hugely over the years. That was the real reason for the big estate tax bill. Another problem was that people were concerned about the tax elements. My sense is that every american knows in their got what it means to have to pay a tax bill, especially one that is a tax on being gay. Americans would understand that. Should we diminish enforcement and penalties for those other crimes that are far more serious . Racialhere are disparities in the approach to criminal justice, we should seriously consider examining the types of sentences and approaches we take to dealing with those Public Safety issues. I take that as sort of a yes. Do you agree that there is thatl bias or bigotry leads to these rates of arrests . People dont draw that conclusion based on analysis that is race alone. I think you have to look at other factors. I brought up one of the factors that we considered that calls for service. There are more police in an area, there is likely to be more arrests. It is an issue that needs to be looked at carefully. Worked on the metropolitan Police Department for 25 years.
