Tulsa’s Little Light House Offers Hope, Resources Through New Podcast
Tulsa’s The Little Light House is determined to give families of children with special needs hope that their kids can thrive in amazing ways. The school just started a podcast to give parents resources and support, even if their kids don’t go there.
Christina McEndarfer asks the questions, her guests tell their stories. She is the host of The Little Light House Podcast called “Helping Kids Be Kids.” My mom was one of the first teachers here in the early 70s and then served on the board the first seven years of my life, said McEndarfer. Getting to join in on something that was so important to her feels like legacy.
Children With Special Needs Bearing Brunt Of Difficulties During Pandemic

Tulsa School Helps Students With Learning Differences During The Pandemic
Many teachers and parents say schooling has been challenging during the pandemic, but it s been even more challenging for children with special needs.
Director of Therapy Lauren Gebhard says the children at Little Light House run the spectrum serving more than 200 students with various physical and intellectual disabilities. She says the school has been through a lot shifting from in-person to virtual, to blended, and now back to connected learning online. Gebhard says they re offering Facebook groups, interactive online videos, and sending home activity packets with parents.
Each teacher and therapist are maintaining an active line of communication with the families and adapting their services to fit the needs of individual students.
