The Journey to Fayetteville: Laurie Barton
Ahead of the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., we’ll highlight each of Clemson’s six entries by recapping their spectacular indoor seasons thus far!
Laurie Barton has put together another stellar season of consistent and high-achieving performances throughout 2021. The Clemson native helped to rewrite the program’s record book alongside her teammates while repeatedly establishing herself as one of the best middle-distance runners in the country.
Barton will toe the start line at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships as the second seed in the women’s 800 meters and a favorite to stand atop the event’s podium following Saturday’s final. After last year’s indoor championships came to a halt before ever getting underway, Barton has put together a stellar season that has prepared her to seize the opportunity when it presents itself later this week.
CLEMSON, S.C. – The Florida State track and field team competed in the third and final day of the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship. The women put on an impressive display to claim the ACC crown by scoring an amazing 95 points on the final day to jump and take first place. The men’s team claimed third place behind Virginia Tech and the University of North Carolina.
Florida State captured its fourth ACC women’s indoor championship, all of which have come under current head coach Bob Braman since 2009. The Seminoles have placed first in the last three women’s championships held at Clemson – 2014, 2018 and this season – and their four total ACC titles rank third in league history.

As Mayor Walsh prepares to leave City Hall for the labor secretary’s post in the Biden administration, Boston City Council President Kim Janey has turned to City Hall veteran Chris Osgood to help lead her team when she becomes acting mayor.
In anticipation of that move, Janey on Friday named Osgood, who previously served as Walsh’s chief of the streets, transportation and sanitation, as her chief of staff.
A graduate of City Year, Haverford College, and the Harvard Business School, Osgood joined the Menino administration in 2006 where he co-founded the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics in 2010 and served as a policy advisor.
