HOMESTEAD, FL – (LATINX NEWSWIRE) – On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Mexican American Council, in partnership with The Foundation for Farmworkers, will provide $150,000 in cash assistance to 150 farmworker families. Each family will receive a $1,000 check and will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the MAC Parent Resource Center located at 29344 SW 158th Court #274 in Homestead, Florida.
“We were blessed to receive a large anonymous donation of funds to provide cash assistance to farmworker families on the East Coast of the United States,” said
John E. Menditto, President of the Board of The Foundation for Farmworkers. “Our donor asked us to get the funds into the hands of farmworker families as quickly as possible and the Mexican American Council was uniquely positioned to do that.”

Tejano Music AwardsFan Fair 2021 has been postponed by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) over concerns of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Due to COVID-19, we have postponed Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair until further notice,” said

Tejano Nation. “We want to make sure we have the state and city of San Antonio approval as well. Plus, we want to make sure priority one is the fans’ and artists’ health. Especially with the second strand of COVID is suppose to be even worse.”

To help ensure the community’s health and safety amid the pandemic, the St. Mary’s University Alumni Association today suspended
Fiesta Oyster Bake for an additional year. The event will resume April 1-2, 2022.
“I am sad to announce that we are canceling Fiesta Oyster Bake 2021 due to the substantial numbers of COVID-19 cases in our region,” said
Joe L. Vela Jr., president of the association in areleased statement. “We cannot risk impacting the health of our campus residents, alumni, and the community by scheduling the event this spring. We will return next year stronger and more focused on continuing a better and safer celebration.”
