An illuminating trip through Vail’s winter’s magic is a centerpiece of the Rocky Mountain experience this winter: Welcome to Magic of Lights, Vail, where the majesty of the holidays will come alive in a ½-mile walk-through of displays and activations utilizing more than 500,000 low-impact LED lights.
The experience will be available through Jan. 24 at the Lower Bench area of Ford Park in Vail, only steps away from the Golden Peak base near Vail Village. The pathway through the displays winds along a snowy track and through the world-renowned Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.

Foundation public relations director Tom Boyd said the youth services are critical.
“When the schools were closed, that didn’t mean we could just go home,” Boyd said. “We were more needed than ever before.”
A student struggling with math or reading in class may need even more help when learning remotely.
The foundation’s Magic Book Bus which brings reading resources to kids in under-served neighborhoods and offers educational resources to kids about to enter kindergarten couldn’t operate as usual this year.
Instead of picking up kids, socially distanced outdoor gatherings in parks were organized.
Other gatherings had to change, including YouthPower365’s popular youth soccer programs. To maintain social distancing, the teams were arranged like the players on a foosball table, and kids had to stay in their predetermined squares.
Vail Skating Festival

On Saturday night, catch the last Vail Skating Festival’s Exhibition of Elite Skating of 2020. These 15-minute shows start promptly at 5 and 6 p.m. at the Solaris Ice Rink and feature Olympic and U.S. National Championship medalists.
This week features Tomoki Hiwatashi, a World Junior Champion, U.S. medalist and international medalist; Camden Pulkinen, a U.S. national and international medalist; Audrey Shin, a 2020 bronze medalist, 2019 Junior U.S. National silver medalist and a Team USA member at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics.

On Thursday, Dec. 10, Vail Mayor Dave Chapin plugged in the Magic of Lights Vail, officially kicking off the 500,000-light holiday display in the town’s Ford Park and Betty Ford Alpine Garden.
