Even though a few Marine City holiday events, including its annual Lighted Santa Parade, were canceled this year, the city still managed to have some holiday fun in 2020.
The Marine City Area Chamber of Commerceâs fifth annual Merrytime Christmas event took place Dec. 5, though without some annual traditions such as the 5K run and Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl. The event encouraged people to shop and dine throughout the city.
Organizers gave out goodie bags and restaurant menus and showed everything that both restaurant and retail businesses were offering that day, such as specials and discounts. Santa Claus was present at the Mariner Theater and at the Marine City Fish Co. and there were drop boxes for kids to put letters to him in certain places. There were also fire pits for people to keep warm.
