Kier has recruited a former Laing O’Rourke commercial director to beef up its construction commercial team.
The firm confirmed that Nicola Kelly starts with the firm today as its commercial projects director reporting into Liam Cummins who is in charge of the construction business. Cummins spent 16 years at Laing O’Rourke before joining Kier at the start of last year.
The firm is due to put out a trading update next month
A spokesperson said Kelly will also be working with Stuart Togwell, the group commercial director brought in from Wates two years ago by then new chief executive Andrew Davies.

Driverless vehicles could create more traffic congestion
A type of driverless vehicle designed to reduce traffic congestion has been found to have the opposite effect according to researchers at The University of Western Australia.
The study, published in Science Direct, simulated the course of traffic in a double lane when multiple driverless vehicles of a specific type were introduced and found it created unstable traffic flow.
“Car manufacturers are focused on getting the technology into the hands of average consumers, however their impact and how they will reduce or increase congestion is largely unknown.”
