The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, has claimed responsibility for a car bomb explosion that killed about four people and injured several others in the Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State. The attack was the seventh to be claimed by the group in the state in the last eight months. The explosion rocked a community in the local government area last Thursday.

Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Services has arrested a high-profile Boko Haram member in Ogun State, South-West Nigeria, according to a report by Daily Trust. The suspected terrorist who relocated to the state from Katsina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, was apprehended in the Ijaiye area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. It was learnt that following the relocation of the high-profile terror suspect to Ogun, he took up a security job and had been gathering intelligence in readiness for terrorist attacks in the South-West region.
