stuck in a quagmire. he was laughed and mocked for that. the policy was let s not get stuck in a quagmire. but as iraq happened, the military response to this sort of disaster in iraq coming up with this counterinsurgency plan to stabilize iraq and turn their attention to afghanistan and say, okay, well, it worked in iraq, let s roll the dice here. so there is no it doesn t make us safer. it s extremely expensive. and a lot of people are dying. and so but it s sort of momentum. it s the momentum of the war. congresswoman, you voted for the authorization to use military force. you re a member of congress. and only one person voted against it, barbara lee in california. i think it s fair to say there was that wrong writers in election and american public at large. and the media.

refusal to make common sense compromises. i mean, it is not common sense at all to cut this kind of money this quickly because of its impact on the economy and jobs. so the question is whether the speaker of the house is going to be able to talk some common sense to his members or whether they re going to be prepared to shut down the government, which frankly means that the social security administration will not be sending out social security checks. doctors won t be paid under medicare to take care of patients. i mean, that is a very reckless way to go. unfortunately, we re hearing a lot of voices on the republican side that seem to say, you know, let s roll the dice and gamable in that way. are you gambling that this is going to come out of the house? elijah cummings felt it would come out of the house with very deep cuts. is the next step to fix it in the senate and come up with some compromised version? yes.
