Raleigh, N.C. The emergency use authorization the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted to Moderna s coronavirus vaccine on Friday means that staff and residents of nursing homes in North Carolina could start being vaccinated by Dec. 28. It’s a great time of anticipation. We are really looking forward to this opportunity, said Ted Smith, chief executive of Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Raleigh. This is an opportunity to save lives. It’s an opportunity for us to put this pandemic behind us.
