No injuries in duplex fire near Olympic View Drive Saturday

Photo by Brent Tugby Five people were displaced following a kitchen fire in a two-story duplex located near Olympic View Drive in Edmonds Saturday. No one was injured. South County Fire spokesperson Leslie Hynes said firefighters were called around 5:40 p.m. to the residence, located in the 18500 block of 73rd Avenue West just off Olympic View Drive. The fire caused extensive damage to the first floor of one duplex, and both units suffered smoke damage, leaving them uninhabitable, Hynes said. The Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Man and 7-year-old daughter killed in Snohomish County house fire KING 5 Staff Replay Video A man and his seven-year-old daughter died in a house fire in Snohomish County on Thursday morning. Crews were called to the fire in the 2900 block of York Road at about 3:30 a.m., according to South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Leslie Hynes. The home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived, and the fire was very fast-moving, according to Hynes. Crews couldn’t get inside the home and had to fight the fire defensively. The man and his daughter were found once the fire was put out.

South County Fire crews responded around 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a fire in a one-story home, The Daily Herald reported. South County Fire spokesperson Leslie Hynes said when firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames. She said it was too dangerous for crews to access most of the home, and they initially didn’t know if anyone was inside. The fire department said later Thursday that after knocking down the fire, they found a girl and her 42-year-old father. They died at the scene.
