The Chicago-based Lincoln Trio - violinist Desirée Ruhstrat, cellist David Cunliffe, and pianist Marta Aznavoorian - offers large-scale, late-career piano trios by 20th-century Chicago masters: Ernst Bacon, recipient of three Guggenheim Fellowships and a Pulitzer Fellowship, and Leo Sowerby, first recipient of the Rome Prize (1921) and winner of a Pulitzer Prize for music (1946), on the group s new Cedille Records album, Trios from the City of Big Shoulders, available June 11, 2021.

GREEN BAY, Wis. Irma Reynolds Lyon, 91, peacefully passed away on April 5, 2021. Irma was born on April 22, 1929, in Reedsburg, Wis. to Fyrl and Ruby (Mundth) Reynolds.
After schooling in Reedsburg, she attended the University of WI-Madison School of Applied Music, graduating in 1951 with high honors. She developed her beautiful contralto voice during her time there as well as mastered the piano, violin, bassoon, and pipe organ.
Shortly after school, Irma auditioned with Dr. Leo Sowerby, a prominent composer, music director, and organist for the Saint James Episcopal Cathedral on Rush Street in Chicago, Ill. She was hired on the spot to sing as a member of a paid vocal quartet, performing at Sunday worship services and other special events. Irma also traveled to New York City and sang with the St. Norbert Dudley Birder Chorale.
