A: There are several reasons that would cause the fruit to dry up on the tree. If it’s just a few fruits that are drying up, this is normal for citrus as they self-thin their fruit. If it’s most of the fruit, then that’s not normal and may be caused by one or more of the reasons below. 1. Extreme temperatures Extreme weather can cause fruit to dry up or drop from the tree due to weather stress. This can be weather changes, when temperatures suddenly change from hot to cold or from cold to hot in a short period of time; or just extreme heat or cold for an extended period of time. We have experienced some extremely hot weather in the past couple of weeks. Lemon trees prefer a climate with temperature range being between 70-100 degrees. Once temperatures rise above 103 degrees the lemon tree will stop growing,
