Baxi looking for heating firms to apply for apprentice scheme | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

HEATING engineers in Bradford can access Baxi apprenticeship funding and support when they take on an apprentice in 2021. Working in conjunction with local Leeds College of Building, Leeds, Baxi, the UK boiler manufacturer, is offering to pay the college fees for the gas engineering apprentices of Baxi Approved Installers. Not only will successful applicants enjoy fully-funded education, Baxi will also provide branded workwear, personal protective equipment (PPE), free Baxi product/specialist training, work experience with a Baxi engineer and a factory tour. To take advantage of the Baxi apprenticeship scheme, approved installers need to put their apprentices forward for the scheme by June 13.

Greater industry action urged to drive female engineer recruitment

Heating and Ventilation News Engineering specialists are using this year’s International Women’s Day to try and build awareness around the career opportunities linked to construction and building engineering More must be done to expand the number of women entering construction and engineering, specialists working in the sector have argued. Leeds College of Building is using the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March) to highlight the role of female engineers and construction specialists already in the sector, while also looking to expand interest among students in pursuing careers in the industry.  This work includes hosting an online open event today to play up the possible career paths available in the construction sector.

YORKSHIRE Water is set to invest in the redevelopment of Esholt Hall to transform the historic building into a flagship Centre of Excellence for learning and wellbeing. The building, which was closed in 2017, will be renovated to provide a state-of-the-art venue for Yorkshire Water’s new training academy, which will provide colleagues and the wider water industry with access to innovative new facilities. The redevelopment of the hall will provide new classroom spaces, for Yorkshire Water’s academies of Water, Wastewater, Health & Safety, Leadership & Management, Customer Experience and Systems & Technology. Once completed, the hall will also offer an opportunity for Yorkshire Water colleagues to meet and collaborate, as well as providing a range of wellbeing resources and activities.
