Royal Stoke patient Lee Newell has proposed to his girlfriend from his hospital bed - just days after cracking his skull in a 12-foot horror fall.
The builder was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital after also suffering a bleed on the brain, a fractured eye socket, cheekbone and jaw, and a broken nose in the April 27 fall from a garage roof.

A twice-convicted murderer who lost an eye in a prison yard attack has been awarded £85,000 in damages.
Lee Newell, 52, also suffered a fractured skull and a severe brain injury in the assault by double killer Gary Vinter at HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes in November 2014.
Newell had claimed the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) did not protect him.
High Court Judge Peter Marquand found the MoJ breached its obligation to keep the claimant reasonably safe .
At a hearing in February, the High Court had heard how Vinter had punched Newell to the ground before repeatedly punching and kicking him in the head, to engineer a move to another prison.

A double killer who murdered a Norwich woman is trying to claim £100,000 in compensation after he was attacked in a prison exercise yard.
Lee Newell, 51, is serving a whole-life sentence for two murders, including his then neighbour Mary Neal in Gateley Gardens, Norwich, in 1988.

He was also convicted in 2013 of having fatally strangled child killer Subhan Anwar in Long Lartin Prison.
But Newell lost an eye in a prison attack by a fellow inmate and is suing the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) over his injuries.
