Most of the casualties are in mexico city the epicentre of the quake was to the south of the city, in puebla state, approximately 120 kilometres away. The rescue operation continues most urgently at the Enrique Rebsamen Primary School in the south of mexico city. These are some of the key pictures telling the story of this earthquake.
