Well, the debate about affirmative action today is so important. And the question of how colleges and universities should select their student body. It is so important and there are so and there are three different kinds of admissions. I talked about where doctor king would come out if he were examining each of these approaches to affirmative action. We have mike bruce in our crack crew who will bring it up. Our first one is, racebased admissions. This is the traditional form of affirmative action that was approved under limited circumstances back in 1978 and also approved i
Things, i had that one thing. So for you maybe its five years. So im not saying its a good rule for everyone. But find that rule that you can follow for yourself and kind of stick to that and start with that. I think that bleeds over to other areas of life. And my favorite line from the book is actually you cant change the people around you, but you can change the people around you. [laughter] and so once i realized that most of my old relationships were relationships that were birthed out of proximity or convenience with history or geography. And once i realized that those people a lot of those people didnt share my similar values or beliefs. And some of them even play the victim role and i realized that victims become victimizers and i had to change a lot of the relationships in my life. I also had to reprioritize this. And so the people that are closest to you a close loved ones and usually count them on one hand or two if you are catholic. [laughter] so that is your closest relatio
Governor but if you have a noncorporate of legislature is hard to get your agenda passed. You raise a good point. Lets talk about how we got into this mess. Haley barbour i believe when he was chair of the Republican Party made a decision that democrats didnt pay enough attention to which was in the best in electing legislatures, legislators and republican governors for a lot of reasons he wanted to do it but when reapportionment comes up we can bridge line in congress and have a bunch of people that believe what we believe which happens to be the tea party in Haley Barbours case govern america or at least be obstructionist to american progress. They did it and they did pretty well 20 years ago. That is why we are in the mess we are in. One of the points that i made to democrats is listen im just speculating here but one of the challenges to taking back Congress Might be that they gerrymandered these districts so effectively after they did that its really tough to win and so if you ele
