at the beginning of this investigation as you ll recall the testimony, they didn t have paul s password and could not get in. and you heard in the defendant s august 11th statement that when he was asked about rogan saying he may have heard alec on the phone during this time, he said well i would be surprised if that were the case. law enforcement didn t have this kennel video. they didn t have this kennel video until april of 2022. when paul s phone was finally unlocked. and that changed everything. why did it change everything? opportunity. being at the scene of the crime when the murders occurred.
social media site. we always unfortunately in these times want to know the motive. what would make a 43-year-old man walk into a hole and kill two people? and then go next door to the university center there and shoot and kill another person. then put a statement out, michigan state university? i have to tell you guys law enforcement was on the scene and on this right away. they acted appropriately and they ve possibly saved a lot of lives by getting this guy off of campus of campus. todd: that was my initial instinct the law enforcement didn t seem to say that something else stood out presumably. because of the times we all had
something like we condemn violence on all sides. there s a desire to thread a needle that may be impossible to thread, but condemning violence broadly without condemning your supporters specifically who may be motivated by the same thing, but would never in a million years consider taking it to this level. but there are folks when you say that an election is stolen and use apocalyptic terms about the end of democracy who might feel it is necessary to take things a day up. take things up another level. even if that s a small percentage of people, obviously only takes one to have a violent episode. garrett haake, thank you for the reporting. all right, clint, i m going to lean on your expertise and analysis in this area. talk to me about why this guy, why it got to this point. why law enforcement didn t catch him before it got violent. you wouldn t think we need to use the extremism spectrum to understand the behavior of someone running for office.
callahan walsh. good morning, callahan. thank you for having me. well, thanks for coming on, why do you think they walked this back? it was miscommunication? what does that tell you? i think it was that statement that they made a little too early. it s easy for the public to make a statement like that but law enforcement is usually a little more careful when making comments of the like because we have parents saying well, if someone was targeted, who was targeted? which one of the children were targeted? were all of them targeted? i think they started putting things in the public s mind that law enforcement didn t necessarily want them to be focusing on. and so they are walking back that statement and what is unfortunate is they are not following up with any other information or any other statement to provide the public. ainsley: we don t have answers. some of the lab results they said were coming in. and is going to take a little bit longer for other lab results. they are no
