At the request of the National Interagency Fire Center, approximately 500 U.S. Soldiers, Marines and Sailors supported wildland fire ground response operations in California. U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), U.S. Northern Command’s Joint Force Land Component Command, oversaw the military ground operation in support of federal and state efforts from Sept. 3- Oct. 20, 2020 .
