Then and Now: Travis – it’s not just a parade town

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Since we all know that Travis is famous for the Fourth of July parade, we have chosen a few vintage “then” photos not usually in the forefront.
A little history: Travis was a battle site during the Battle of Staten Island, and ferries ran from Travis in 1757 and were part of Philadelphia and New York City’s main route via the Port Richmond Ferry for decades.
