Inverclyde Shed help send youngsters on an Easter adventure

A COLLECTION of wooden creatures crafted by Inverclyde Shed are helping youngsters in an Easter adventure. Don Thomas, lead pastor at Inverclyde Vineyard Church, organised an Easter trail in the bunny park at the walled gardens in Gourock Park. Don approached Bruce Newlands at Inverclyde Shed about creating some animal figures to make the springtime activity more egg-citing for youngsters. Shed member Laughlan Smith created a whole range of wooden animal cut-outs to be placed around the trail. Don said: I heard about all the great work the team at the Shed do and when I approached Bruce, he said they d be delighted to help.

Late nurse Janice Graham honoured with memorial plaque at new Greenock Health Centre

A TOUCHING memorial to the first NHS worker in Scotland to pass away after contracting coronavirus has been unveiled at the new Greenock Health Centre. Healthcare support worker and district nurse Janice Graham tragically died at Inverclyde Royal Hospital on April 6 last year. Tributes to the much-loved nurse and mum-of-one poured in from people all over Inverclyde and her colleagues formed a guard of honour as they applauded the funeral cortege. Towards the end of 2020, Janice s colleagues approached BAM Construction - the company building the town s £20m new health centre - about including a memorial for their much-loved colleague. The firm then approached the team at Inverclyde Shed to ask if members could help with making a small plaque for Janice.

A DEVASTATED Greenock family have spoken of their pain after losing a second child to an undiagnosed heart condition. Neil and Susan Holleran lost their beautiful daughter Megan in April 2007 when she passed away very suddenly at the age of just six-and-a-half. Last June tragedy struck again when Megan s brother Zachary tragically passed away aged 14. Parents Neil and Susan say that the loss of Zachary 13 years after Megan left them - and the teenager s other siblings Bryan, Alisha, Marc, Neil and Lynn - distraught. Neil, 68, said: We re still not over Megan and now we ve lost Zachary. We just have to take things a day at a time.
