LETTERS: The authority of the people; a glaring oversight

In our public education, we can clearly see the difference between the Republican and the Democratic parties. The Board of Regents of the University of Colorado, where Democrats have the majority, has forced President Mark Kennedy to resign over his comparison of the possible leaving of the university by students if the university did not handle the virus right to “The Trail of Tears” for which he had apologized. The board’s action came in spite of the president’s having achieved much more diversity at CU. The board endorsed the censuring of the president by the faculty assembly, which was not generally elected, is not a body of public government, and therefore is a private group.

KSP Investigates Fatal Crash in Pike County

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Jan 22, 2021 8:07 PM Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call on January 21, 2021 at 3:05 p.m. reporting a commercial vehicle collision had occurred on KY Route 319 in the Hardy community of Pike County. Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Division responded and began the investigation. The initial investigation indicated James Hager, 48 year old of Inez, was operating a 1990 white Kenworth tractor trailer loaded with logs on KY Route 319 when he lost control, causing his vehicle to overturn. Hager was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. Debris from the vehicle struck a Chevrolet pickup parked in the driveway of a nearby residence. The owner of the Chevrolet pickup, Larry Stanley, 59 years old of Hardy, was inside of the vehicle, but did not sustain any injuries. KY Route 319 was shut down for several hours while emergency crews cleaned debris from the roadway.
