BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Students of Governor Livingston High School Environmental Club recently volunteered to put on their masks to perform an important operation: Planting a native dogwood tree, a gift of Union County, in celebration of Earth Day. The operation involved learning and doing.
Students Kyra Ford, Kendall Torres, Emilie Wagman and Serena Yee learned why the spot chosen would be a good place to plant this tree. Then they learned how to remove it from its container safely and at what depth to plant it. They shoveled the soil back around the root ball and watered and mulched.
