AUSTIN Rep. Michelle Beckley, D-Carrollton, doesn’t get any special access to the coronavirus vaccine just because she’s a state official.
A pre-existing condition makes her more susceptible to the virus, and that puts her in group 1B, the second tier of people on the state’s priority list for getting the vaccine.
Her priority designation follows that of group 1A first responders, health care workers and nursing home residents.

Covid-19 vaccine bound for Texas last week were delayed after several batches showed signs of having strayed from their required temperature range, according to a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of State Health Services. The vaccines, a total of 144,400 doses sent in 421 shipments, were scheduled for delivery last week, before the Christmas holiday. They were delivered early this week instead, spokeswoman Lara Anton said in an email Wednesday evening. The state wasn’t given a reason for the delay, she said.
