Police set up checkpoints at various locations following report of a missing taxi Monday 05/04/2021
Police have set up checkpoints at various locations in the Southern Division after a taxi, registration LT-7191 was reported missing.
Some people have told us there was huge traffic on all lanes leading to Laqere Bridge earlier today.
Police say the taxi is owned by a 39-year-old man of Tuirara in Makoi.
They say the driver was heavily intoxicated and knocked out after drinking with some of his friends yesterday and noticed his car missing when he woke up.

The completion of the roadworks in the Northern Division are subject to weather.
Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is requesting Haulage companies to abide the 10T restriction on Laqere Bridge on Tabia road.
FRA is working to open the bus routes but will only allow operation once the roads are deemed safe for use.
Motorists are advised to please drive to the conditions on secondary roads as there are still a lot of silt and debris on the roads.
All works are subject to weather.
FRA is urging members of the public to contact the FRA on toll free number 5720 if they have any queries.

Thousands of people living in Nasinu and Nakasi are facing unplanned power disruption from this morning as the Water Authority of Fiji is repairing an underground burst water main near the Laqere Bridge.
EFL says these repair works involves digging and exposing water mains which is close to a power pole.
Parts of Kings Road from Laqere Bridge to Omkaar Road junction, the whole of Narere Road, Muanikoso Road, Manuluva Circle, Vatuloka Place, Tavaga Lane, Kaicaca Lane, Vatudina Road an parts of Beaumont Road from Kings Road junction to Vatoa Road junction, FNTC Road, Mobile Police Camp, WAF Laqere Sewerage Pump, Makoi Total Service Station, Narere Primary School and all residential and commercial areas in nearby areas will face power disruptions.
